Priya Nair has made history by becoming the first woman to be appointed as CEO and MD of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), effective August 1, 2025. With over 30 years at HUL, her rise marks a significant shift in the leadership of India’s biggest FMCG company.

Starting her journey as a management trainee in 1995, Priya has held several key positions across the company. She’s a graduate of Sydenham College, an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, and completed an Advanced Management Programme at Harvard.
Her leadership of the Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care divisions delivered strong financial and brand results. Most recently, she served as Global President of Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing segment, managing a €13 billion portfolio across 20+ markets.
The company’s stock surged over 4% following the announcement, reflecting strong investor confidence in her leadership. Market analysts, including Citi and Jefferies, praised her strategic clarity, execution track record, and global exposure.
She takes over from current CEO Rohit Jawa, who is stepping down after a short tenure. Her five-year term will begin in August, pending regulatory and shareholder approval.
Priya Nair’s appointment is not just a personal milestone—it’s a powerful message about women breaking barriers in India’s corporate world.
