PM Modi Surveys Ganga Floods in Varanasi, Assures Swift Relief

Varanasi, August 4, 2025:
In response to relentless flooding along the Ganga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took an aerial survey of the most affected areas in Varanasi, promising immediate support and long-term rehabilitation for thousands of displaced residents. Rising water levels have submerged several neighborhoods and forced the evacuation of more than 18,000 people over the past 24 hours.

According to local officials, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with state and municipal agencies, has intensified relief efforts—setting up temporary shelters, deploying medical teams, and distributing food and drinking water. Boats are being used in low-lying colonies to evacuate families, while volunteers coordinate rescue and aid on the ground.

During his visit, PM Modi reviewed ongoing rehabilitation activities and interacted with flood victims at a relief camp. He assured affected families that the central government will release emergency funds and coordinate with state agencies for efficient rebuilding of damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and schools.

Experts warn that, with the Ganga still above danger mark, the focus remains on prompt rescue and continuous monitoring of rainfall upstream.
